Construction of new test Cell P8.3 for rocket propulsion systems
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has been operating the P8 testbed since 1995 and now another new test cell (P8.3) was to be added to it for R&D purposes. This installation consists of supply systems for cryogenic media (H2, O2 and LNG) as well as for ethanol plus gas pipework for H2, O2, N2 and He. The existing infrastructure was to be adapted to enable it to be used with the augmented testbed. As general planner, Fichtner supervised this project over its entire lifecycle, including detailed planning, production engineering, procurement in lots of construction and plant engineering, project execution, and construction supervision.
